Actor William H. Macy may have avoided being charged over the college admissions scandal because the allegedly incriminating emails were sent by his wife.
Desperate Housewives actress Felicity Huffman is among 50 people who have been accused of paying bribes to get their children into America's top colleges.
Huffman wrote an email about making a 'charitable contribution' of $15,000 to get their first daughter's SAT answers corrected, court documents show.
Although the FBI allegedly recorded Macy discussing doing the same for his second daughter, Georgia Grace, the couple ultimately decided against doing so.
In the same phone call Macy was recorded explicitly acknowledging the bribe for his first daughter, Sofia Grace.

According to investigation records.....Loughlin’s oldest daughter academic qualifications were just ‘below’ or at the “low end’ of USC’s admission standards...even with a tutor...so the likelyhood of her being admitted on her own merit was zero.
Self absorbed idiots.

As a graduate of a Non-Ivy and an Ivy League school, I can tell you the differences are significant.
I went to a private non-Ivy school (Syracuse) for my undergrad degree (Physics & EE) and when I went to the Ivy League (Cornell) school for graduate work, I can tell you the differences in intellect and capacities were startling. The Ivy kids were much smarter than my peers at Syracuse. But this was 20 years ago. I would imagine much has changed.
Maybe they can get some advice from Hillary on how to get the Feds to look the other way while they commit blatant crimes. She is the expert in that field.
Fargo? I was thinking BOOGIE NIGHTS.
Let’s hope he doesn’t do what his character did in that movie.
I’m not arguing what you are purporting. I would imagine that the average intelligence level at Cornell is much higher than at your basic state school. My argument was unless you are going to be on Wall Street, or at some big law firm or going for the top of Goldman Sachs, what’s the point? If you are like the millions of us who get a degree and work good high paying white collar jobs, the lack of an ivy league degree will not bar your entry into the workforce.
One of my kids just graduated from a small and completely unknown college.
If you don’t work at NSA or NASA, you’ve never heard of the place. If you do work there, you want to hire their graduates.
He had scholarships for about half, borrowed some from us and had some loans. He’s now living like he’s still broke and in college and just made his last college loan payment last week. 10 months.
Going to an Ivy gives you a great way to network. Living here in the Boston area we see that big time with Boston College grads.
So who gets the crime. the giver or the taker.?
All we hear about is the briber. What about the taker??
. Did her hubby sign those tax forms too? If so, hes not out of the woods yet.”””
A joint return needs both signatures on it.
He is NOT out of the woods.
Also- IF the IRS finds that you have committed tax fraud, they can go back over EVERY single tax return you EVER filed. NO LIMITS RETROACTIVE.
This is a huge mess for every parent who participated in this scam.
They want YOU to pay more taxes silly.
The takers got arrested too - various athletic coaches, the guy who took tests for the kids or gave them the answers (Mark Riddell), and the guy running the scam (Rick Singer).
I get what you are saying...Is an Ivy degree worth it for the rest of us. Probably not.
The only reason I went to Cornell was that I live nearby nd I got accepted because of my grades at SU.
It certainly was not something I would have uprooted my world to do, and a graduate degree from SU would have sufficed.
The downside is that I am perceived as overqualified for any position.
It seems nearly everyone involved works in finance, media, or entertainment.
Its a picture of where the corruption comes from that is destroying America.
During the Teapot Dome trials, oil magnate Edward Doheny was acquitted of offering a bribe to Interior Secretary Hall, who was convicted of accepting it.
Justice is blind, crippled, and crazy.
LOL!
In court Tuesday, Mr. Singer described how he obstructed justice, saying that after he began cooperating with federal prosecutors,//// he tipped off parents that he was wearing a wire.////
