I liked the old Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. I also enjoyed the Charlie Chan movies.

Higgins didn’t drink beer very often but when he did he drank Dos Equis. I liked Magnum. Peter Gunn was pretty good in the day.

Don’t forget Lawrence Block—I mentioned him in an earlier post— the Matt Scudder series.

Also his Keller the hitman and Bernie Rhodenbarr,the book dealer/burglar. The latter two can be very humorous.
