Cute song. I was waiting to hear “shoo-wop” in the background :)
I just went on a du wop/50s song download binge..
Runaround Sue/Who Put the bomp/The Wanderer/Why do fools fall in love..and a lot others, including a bunch of elvis songs.
I also downloaded “That Thing You Do”
Best 50s song written WAY after the ‘50s for the movie titled “That Thing you Do”
REALLY FUN movie if you never saw it.
G rated IMO.

I did see it. I think Liv Tyler was in it with Tom Hanks.

    YES!!
I have to admit. Though I’m a hard rock fan first, I LOVE 50s music and for some reason I LOVE the title song from that movie.
It uncannily portrays what a great 50s song would sound like.
And Steve Zahn is so funny in it.

At Ten YO this song heard for the first time. Loved it and sang it for days until mom put a sock in my mouth just to shut be up.
It still has a place in memories.
Thanks!

Well, who wants to waltz and minuet?
Two hundred years ago, you bet.
But I want to dance right up to date,
 'Cause this is 1958.

It’s hard to build an entire movie around just one song. But they picked a dandy.

The Five Worst Songs of 1958 This one should have made the list. It was a local hit in Southern California in 1958.

In 1958, it became fashionable for lyricists to compose song lyrics simply by stringing together song titles. "Believe It Or Not," released late in the year by an up-and-coming artist named Don Covay, contains at least 29 references to popular songs. "Follow the Rock," by the Bay Bops, a vocal group from Brooklyn, NY, contains 25 such references.

Great song and great soundtrack, but the song style and setting are summer 1964.
If you want more 50’’s doo wop I suggest:
The Channels
Lee Andrews and the Hearts
And a single called Show Me the Way by the Five Notes
