Maybe he has one shot though: if he says it was only one time, for show in another state, and doesn’t recall saying those things specifically, and also says that he would demand some voice recognition confirmations that it was him, and also say he’d like to have “conversations” about the issue so “we can all move forward”, then maybe he could survive.
Probably not though since that kind of strategy only works if you’re a Democrat caught using blackface 20+ years ago.
