My suggestion is the immediate removal of the kidney....
While it didn't work for my buddy it might work for your wife.
with stones, when the pain begins,...
When the pain begins, I get to the ER as fast as I can for the pain killers. No way could I tolerate that pain for any length of time.
Magnesium and B6 prevent kidney stones.
I had mine removed a few years ago. I had had a couple of attacks and then a really painful one. ER sent me home and then the surgeon admitted me as soon as I saw him. Not a bad surgery, really.
I take 6 Pure Encapsulations Magnesium Glycinates at 120 mg ea throughout the day. The glycinate form of magnesium does not cause “bowel intolerance” like the other forms do.
Had stones 8 - 10 years ago, 10 days in and out of the hospital. Twice in the crusher.
Said I would never get them again, done a lot of research and it suggested radishes might help, I like radishes, so no problem, eat them like they will disappear forever. Never a problem since.
I passed a kidney stone I didn’t even know I had, spent the day at the shooting range with pistols and that evening passed the stone. My Dr friend said that all the reverberations from shooting josselled it loose and out it went.
Does she shoot?
Start taking liquid magnesium. It works really fast. You get it at the health food store. I get gravel all the time and as soon as I take the magnesium it clears up same day. We use the brand Allergy Resource Group.
I have had three very painful kidney stone events over thirty years.
The would be 4th was found in a screening X-ray showing an 8 mm stone,,,not passable at that size, but I wasn’t in any pain as yet.
Urologist wanted a CT scan before an expected surgery to remove it and the soonest available to schedule was two weeks. I had read about chance piedra and its ability to dissolve stones and thought why not give it a try, since it couldn’t hurt.
Two weeks later the CT scan showed no kidney stone. I am not saying chance piedra helped or not or if the first X-ray was just faulty, but that is my experience.
I passed a stone about 8 months ago. It was the size of a small dogs tooth. Fifteen days of pain. Pain ended when it made its way to the bladder. Passed it 2 days later.
To mm? that’s just a little baby. I had an 11 mm Stone. I had to have it blasted by sound waves to get that sucker out. Those things are definitely not fun though, regardless of its relatively small size they all hurt like a mother.
I have to go back in. Catscan found a staghorn stone the “size of a golf ball”. They going in through the back and are going to blast it and vacuum it out.
Second, she should not worry about it. The stone can be passed as "sand" which goes through the filter.
She should keep taking the medication until it is gone and, of course, if the pain comes back go to the ER.

I thought they could be bombarded with sound waves to break up the stone.
The pain comes when the stone moves from the kidney to the bladder. Once in the bladder she’ll feel no pain. I’ve had stones stay in the bladder for more than two weeks before passing. Tell her to go on with what she normally does. The hard part is over. I’ve passed more then 20 stones and have had many surgically removed because of size. I’m as close as you’re going to come as an expert 8-)
Will pass eventually however your wife needs to use a strainer and catch the stones. Makes it a lot easier to diagnose the cause or if other complications are present.
I had the exact same thing happen to me 2 years ago. The doctor told me the pain from the stone does not originate in the kidney, but rather in the narrow ureter on the way to the bladder. Once the pain has stopped, the stone is in the bladder, or gone, & will cause no further pain as the passages to the outside are much bigger than the ureter.
So, your wife passed the stone from kidney to bladder, & it will eventually come out in her urine. Catching the stone is only for the patient’s curiosity, the Dr. doesn’t want it, he’s seen a million of them.
My pain ended for good in the ER after receiving a shot of morphine. Good stuff. I never caught the stone from urinating & no more pain. Episode over. However, the ER visit costs me $1500 after my 70/30 insurance coverage. Now that was painful.
BTW, stones are often caused by lack of proper hydration. People who sweat for a living are more likely to suffer from stones. Drink plenty of water, sports drinks, & fruit drinks, while avoiding carbonated drinks, alcohol, & coffee.
Peeing is your friend. It releases toxins from your body, especially your kidneys, which accumulate them from the blood stream. If your peeing is infrequent or of small volume, it may be a sign of dehydration. Drink long & often, & if it causes you to occasionally squirm, be thankful, your kidneys are functioning normally & are likely stone free.
Yes my sil is office manager for prominent local urologists
in northern nyc suburb and Said a beer or 2 nightly
helps them pass
I had a few painful episodes over the years
I passed one 2 yrs ago on a business trip
to TO I was avoiding their healthcare system
while suffering for a week running to the
toilet every hour or so the day before I
went home I drank one large beer filled huge
Tapered beer glasses like you used to see
in old beer ads (not sure what you call em)
with dinner an hour later in the room
i micturated and a rock bigger n a coffee bean flew out of me
clinked onto the front part of one of those large size oval terlets
Before the water / drain where I could preserve it - the
