I think most African nations, like Middle-east nations, use a lot of ex-pats (Brits and Americans) for aircraft maintenance and logistics functions - but we can't be all places at all times.
Partly because it's in our blood, but also because the natives are notoriously lazy and slack when it come to "technical" things.
Not a racist view, just reality.
