Jussie Smollett is facing up to 48 YEARS behind bars after being hit with 16 charges [tr]

Jussie Smollett has been hit with an additional 15 counts of filing a false police report by a grand jury and is now facing up to 48 years behind bars.

The Empire actor was initially charged with one Class 4 Felony charge of disorderly conduct last month but a grand jury has applied that charge 15 times over in an 36-page indictment that was returned on Thursday.

Now, he is facing a maximum sentence of 48 years behind bars and fines of up to $400,000.

He is expected to cut a plea deal with authorities, according to experts cited by ABC.

Counts one to seven apply to the comments he made to police officer Muhammed Baig, who first responded to his apartment when his friend called 911 on January 29.

The second set applies to Detective Kim Murray who interviewed him later that day.

She is who Smollett told, according to the indictment, that one of his attackers was a 'white male'.(snip)

The actor's lawyers say he has been the victim of police and prosecutorial misconduct.

They say his presumption of innocence was 'trampled' and that the entire investigation into the attack has been flawed.

So according to his lawyer since Juicy is presumed innocent it means that no investigation can occur.

If I understand it correctly, the grand jury are the ones who laid the hammer down. Minimum he should have to pay the costs involved in this fiasco.

When do they find the “real attackers”?

Since he’s not a fan of Trump, maybe he should ask his pal Obama to pardon him and see how that works.

If a Chicago Jury even finds him guilty, I predict that his actual sentence is six months unsupervised probation and a ten thousand dollar fine. Maybe a hundred hours of ‘Community Service’.

This will never go to trial. Smollett won’t risk 20 or 40 years in prison if he can get 3 or 4 in a plea deal.

He has to go to prison to send a message. He single-handedly negated future hate crimes against blacks because now everyone will assume it’s a hoax just like this one. He’s not the first but he’s a high profile person who should have known better. His Hollywood connections may not help him with this and the police take this very seriously. If he gets off with probation and no prison time; it would be a slap in the face to the police therefor Smollett will do time. I agree with others here; less than 4 years on good behavior.

A 48 year sentence would send a nice signal to future black and gay leftists to think twice before manufacturing hate and trying to ensnare good and honest President Trump supporters in a hoax.

He won't serve a day.

From the news article from Friday:

Experts believe it is likely he will strike a plea deal and potentially not spend time in prison.

He has powerful friends, who I can almost guarantee had a part in putting him up to this hoax. Jussie will threaten to talk if he faces jail time, and the powers that be can't let that happen.

He won’t do any prison time. He’ll get a few years probation and be the opening speaker at the 2020 Democratic National Convention.

He’ll end up making a lot of money from this. Until now he was a nobody Z list actor in a TV show no one ever watched, now everybody knows his name. Being a con artist gay black man that commits fraud and hate crime hoaxes is NOT seen as a negative in the democratic party of today, it’s a career enhancing move.

Does the fact that he was previously on probation ener into his sentencing?

He should get three years of prison followed by 2000 hours community service. Plus pay full restitution to Chicago PD

Do you really think a racist gay black man will get the same sentence as a racist straight white guy for reporting a race related crime in a liberal city like Chicago? If he is fined, some Hollywood liberal will pay it and he’ll never spend a day in jail “because he has suffered enough”.

He’ll get, at most, 4 years. I won’t be surprised if gets no prison sentence.

We need a betting pool, cause I say 6 months.

Maybe... but that will not be happens with the Federal Courts on the mailed letter issue.....

And.. SNL still hasn’t gotten permission from their DNC MASTERS to do a parody of Smollett. But the DNC Masters did give SNL the go-ahead to parody R Kelly this week.

The Lawyer “Shark Tank” skit from 2 weeks ago on SNL was hardly a parody of Smollet. Just a slight mention, that’s all. And that’s not a “parody.”
