What a terrible waste of medical talent, productivity and manpower!
How stupid to fire them......why not just a discipline?

"How stupid to fire them......why not just a discipline?"Because the records belonged to a person of color not an old white guy.

Why fire rather than discipline?
Because people will just keep looking.

Surgical nurse violates HIPPA. Sounds like a good career has been destroyed. Certainly the licensing board will discipline her. She could possibly lose her license. I’m always dumbfounded by educated professional people and the stupid things they do to destroy their careers.

Because HIPPA fines can go up to $1.5 million per violation, and each improper record access is a violation. This could be a $75 million fine for the hospital. Their only recourse is to scorch the earth and hope that shows institutional regret and the fines are small.
