If you read the comments, you’ll find out that the child DID have a tetanus shot. But he didn’t have FIVE tetanus shots.
That’s right. Just checked - apparently, now the recommended schedule is 5 tetanus shots by age 5.
15-20 years ago, the recommended schedule was 4 tetanus shots (as per my records). Now it’s 5.
So, this boy had one tetanus shot. Then he contracted tetanus and received a second tetanus shot in the hospital. The commenters are complaining that he hasn’t had 3 more shots since then. Really, they’re calling to let him die in the comments section over there. That’s how crazy the mandatory-vaxxers are.
It seems like it was part of the first aid routine in my family to get a fresh tetanus shot immediately after we bashed ourselves up. Waiting to get another tetanus shot until after you have got tetanus is obviously not going to help much. So if any of the posters have complained about anything... that would probably be numero uno.
One reason for this is because they changed adjuvants to reduce or remove aluminum and mercury in response to the anti-vaxxer fear-claims. This makes for a weaker immune response, hence more doses.
Children have to get more doses than adults because they have young untrained immune systems with shorter immune “memory”.
Your tag line...that’s the point of vacinnes...so my tax dollars don’t end up paying for some anti vacinnes child getting saved.
5 shots seems a little over much. I know I got plenty of tetanus shots as I was a bit adventurous. But that was when injured. Sure I had the required immunization then the 1 booster but after that only as stated above. Could be my mom had the sense to know when medical care for an injury would be needed along with a booster.
The heavy schedule may be because doctors know so many parents are feckless no-counts who haven’t a clue about basic child care let alone how to deal with a child stepping on a rusty nail.
