Sadly, Kissinger was right about one thing. The planet is getting more crowded. If something isnt done, barring an extinction level natural disaster, the traditional remedies will kick in: War followed by pestilence and famine.

I understand what you are saying, Chuckster, but I pray that somehow those may be forestalled or mitigated somehow.
Wealth is the most effective contraceptive. As poverty dissipates and wealth increases worldwide, birth rates decline precipitously. Western countries as well as China and Japan have seen reproductive rates decline well below the the rate needed to maintain population. Immigration, not reproduction, is keeping U.S. population growing.
With continuing technological advances and reduced international tension, we have a long way to go before population overwhelms the world's resources.
