Captain Marvel MCU Future In Doubt; Avengers Cast Unhappy
Comic Book News ^ | March 5, 2019 | Matt McGloin

Posted on 03/07/2019 8:05:24 AM PST by C19fan

A new rumor has landed online that echoes my own concerns about the Captain Marvel movie and Brie Larson, but this is claimed to be coming from on top -- as high as Disney CEO Bob Iger.

The rumor claims that the Avengers cast, or certain members of the Avengers cast, is unhappy with Brie Larson being the face of the MCU going forward. It's said one particular actress - hinted at it being Elizabeth Olsen - feels that they are getting pushed aside, that they are getting treated differently.

Not to mention that the latest Superman and Ben Affleck are mega-stiffs.

Of course they allowed it to expire because they ceased to exist after loosing a copyright lawsuit with National comics (DC now) because the character was a blatant ripoff of Superman. Then DC bought the Fawcett assets but that was after Marvel made their own Captain Marvel. So Captain Marvel was Shazam, except when he wasn’t, and yeah. Fun stuff. More interesting than any iteration of the character.

Later in the month the movie “Shazam” is coming out with the original Billy Batson story line. That is the one I want to see. So hang on the original Captain Marvel is coming soon.

By the way the original 1940’s movie serial “Shazam” is on YouTube and well worth watching.

I’d heard that Rotten Tomatoes changed their policy about clicking, “Not Going To See It,” on their site because this movie was getting huge amounts of hate. They made it so there was no visible negativity on the movie’s RT page.

Interesting. Kinda like when Amazon monkeyed with reviews of Hillary’s book on their site.

Agree. A Dark and Brooding Batman was okay, because it was plausible within the source material for Batman.

This will cause all those high priced mint condition comic book collectors’ collections to be worth about 3 cents. Rightly so.

I read that too. I think they did the same thing with "Black Panther."

I wonder if IMDB will follow suit.

As someone who has been reading DC for almost 40 years now... Yes I still do read a few titles...

The last comic book I bought was in January of 1993, and it was "Death of Superman." I have it sitting here in my desk drawer right now.

The Death of the iconic American Superhero seemed to be a foreshadowing of events that would be the consequence of the election of that human garbage Bill Clinton.

I have never bought a comic book since.

I dunno. Just looked there and the main review at the bottom was negative. Already over 300 reviews there.

I Have the entire death of superman, rise of the supermen, rebirth, etc... as well as the breaking of Batman...etc..

Basically if it happened in DC during the 90s, I probably have it... paired down in the 00’s, and further in the 10s... and the NEW 52 was AWEFUL...only book I have during that them was Green Lantern... the REBIRTH fortunately has undone MOST of the new 52 Crap..

The one character I do not care for at all, has been the return of Barry Allen... I just don’t care for the character, prefer the Wally West character better... Brought him back with Rebirth, but then just killed him off in HERO’s in CRISIS, but have no idea if that “death” will stick for any length of time....

Green Lantern’s latest book so far has been a dog, I hope they take it away from the hack they have writing it... This is probably my favorite character (Hal Jordan)...

I have always enjoyed Aquaman as Well, which I know puts me in a minority, but I always felt this character never got the respect it deserved.... They didn’t destroy the character in the movie, but it sure didn’t live up to the source material either... really an overly long drawn out MEH... but made a lot of money for DC, so I am sure there will be more.

Oh and for the record, Detective Comics has become almost unreadable... the whole “bat family” story line is just junk... one of the things I dislike most about most books today is the tokenism for inclusiveness...

I started watching Supergirl with my daughter, as family entertainment, first season was fine, but then its just gone further and further off the deep end, with SJW craptastic nonsense... Every episode is some sort of propaganda for yet another left wing garbage cause.... I still watch it with her, but we literally SKIP every stupid scene around this nonsense... If it gets more than 1 more season I’ll be surprised, its virtually unwatchable any more...

I guess they haven’t got “woke” yet, but I expect it will be coming eventually.

I was primarily a Superman/Superboy/Krpto fan. If it had Superman/Superboy in it, I bought it. I used to have a big collection of Superman/Superboy/Action, etc comics going back into the 1960s, but that was lost years ago.

I liked Green Lantern, and had a few of his. Also Green Arrow and Flash, though I was never a big fan of Flash.

My brother was the Marvel comics collector. I seldom ever bought a Marvel comic, but my Brother bought a lot of them, primarily Thor, Hulk, Spiderman, and the Fantastic Four. I think he also bought a lot of X-Men.

I read his comic books though, and was familiar with the characters.

I have started feeling that way about movies in the last few years or so. I used to not care, but they have made me care by hating on people like me.

I started watching Supergirl with my daughter, as family entertainment, first season was fine, but then its just gone further and further off the deep end, with SJW craptastic nonsense...

I started watching it initially, but I think I only lasted two perhaps three episodes. I knew it was going to be a big Social Justice Warrior craptacular when I saw they made Jimmy Olson Black.

Sure. THAT was something that needed tweaking.

Pretty much everything they make now has agendas and messages that are not so subtle as they used to be.

Well I could care less about the race... other than when it makes no sense.... But yes the Jimmy Olsen in supergirl is not remotely the jimmy olsen of the comic...

First they make her adoptive sister homosexual... then they take an established character in the DCU and turn Detective Montoya (from batman) into a carpet muncher, so they can give her a relationship... then its a whole thing about them adopting... now its a whole transgender nonsense... whatever cause dejour lets slap it in no matter how much sense it makes.

Like, we are tasked with protecting the planet form alien threats, of unknown and untold power, but we are from henceforth going to do it with non lethal weapons...

Its literally nothing but 44 minutes of propaganda... I know you aren’t going to get great writing with these shows, but I sure don’t them to be nothing more than propaganda vehicles every week.
