Virtue-signaling corporations are lying to you about using green energy
Washington Examiner ^ | 03-06-19 | Rupert Darwall

When I look at what’s happening on the other side, I encourage it,” President Trump told CPAC attendees on Saturday. “Is the wind blowing today? I’d like to watch television, darling.” The president was making a fundamental and inarguable point. No one can rely 100 percent on renewable energy because it’s not available anywhere close to 100 percent of the time. Thanks to the "Green New Deal," energy (or rather the lack of it) will be one of the top three issues in the 2020 election. Yet the president will go into this fight with one arm tied behind his back. More than 100 corporations are committed to going 100 percent renewable, including Bloomberg, Facebook, Google, Nike, and Starbucks, aided and abetted by the federal government validating spurious claims of renewable energy usage. “We proved that 100 percent renewable is 100 percent doable,” Apple boasts. Only it hasn’t done anything of the sort. Apple’s 2018 environmental report gave a more nuanced version, shading its claim down to 100 percent of its electricity being "covered" by renewable energy. Two years ago, Alex Epstein, author of the Moral Case for Fossil Fuels, wrote an analysis for Forbes debunking Apple’s claim of 100 percent renewable energy for its energy-guzzling data centers. “This is highly misleading,” Epstein charged. The claim was an artifact of two types of “energy accounting sleight-of-hand.”

OK I’ll chime in on this

of course one can live off the grid it’s not that easy and it’s fairly expensive

but with solar panels and batteries you can easily do it

they need to have a back up generator for the dead of winter in general but it works fine

I mean and we can easily get there it’s just it’s not gonna happen by government mandate

Best case scenario is he just threw up some solar panels and just have no more electric bill and use the utility is your battery

Of course we do need utilities yes we do need centralize power plants yes we do need a electrical distribution system with transformers and substations yes of course

No fossil fuels used to mine resources and manufacture these devices?

Ever see how toxic old solar panels are? And how difficult they are to dispose of?

We might get get by if the wind dies down & the TV shuts off in the middle of your favorite program, but if it shuts down in the middle of some vital production phase in a factory...that’s serious business. That’s why we MUST maintain conventional power plants. Two points here.....A. The conventional plant has to adjust due to the varying load & the varying output from the “renewable” sources which are most certainly NOT reliable for maintaining a constant feed of the correct voltage, current, & frequency for our needs. This isn’t always easy/practical to accomplish.....B. The conventional power plants are already supplying our needs & more plants can be built if necessary to respond to increased demand. Since these plants are vital anyway, why not correctly view the “renewable” sources for what they really are..not totally reliable, reasonably priced, nor available in sufficient quantity to fulfill our electrical needs. They are merely high-priced standby sources.

Kinda like those curly light bulbs the Greenies foisted on us. I thought about sending a box of the used bulbs to congress, but figured I would be arrested.

This is the modern equivalent of religious indulgences. Pay enough money to some fake green energy company and they’ll give you a certificate that your company is now “green”.

That's how we know they're lying...
