Immanuel Velikovsky tells us that the Hyksos were Amalek, (arabs) who ruled Egypt from Avaris, the Old Testament calls them ‘evil angels’ - they met the fleeing Israelites in the desert. Hyksos translates to ‘shepherd kings’ which describes the hordes of arabs driving their goats and camels before them, laying waste to the countryside, causing the ‘wandering in the desert for forty years. Amalek ruled Egypt for 400 years, until driven out by Saul, king of Israel.
Cutting off the hands of thieves was a punishment decreed by Hammurabi.

The Code of Hammurabi is a well-preserved Babylonian code of law of ancient Mesopotamia, dated back to about 1754 BCE. It is one of the oldest deciphered writings of significant length in the world. The sixth Babylonian king, Hammurabi, enacted the code. A partial copy exists on a 2.25 meter stone stele. It consists of 282 laws, with scaled punishments, adjusting “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” as graded based on social stratification depending on social status
