Bugatti, the French sports car brand that is now owned by German automaker Volkswagen, has revealed the most expensive new car ever built.
With a sale price of 16.7 million euros ($19 million), the Bugatti La Voiture Noire was publicly debuted Tuesday at the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland.

Even a Saudi prince would need to kill a couple more Kashoggis to afford one of those.

Generally, I think the veyrons are pretty ugly, but that. Yowza. If I had the scratch, it’d be like having my own personal Batmobile. Yeah.

On the lottery winner thread folks were thinking what would one do with $600 million. I guess you could buy one of these. Except it would drop you down to $590 million.
While I agree that folks that earn their money legally have my upmost respect and can spend it anyway they want - it really does seem like such a waste to me. Although I’m sure some homeless guy thinks it a waste that we have two empty bedrooms in our house.
My brother knows a guy that would always come to the shooting range with a different, and very fancy older car each time. He finally asked him about it - “Are you a dealer in rare cars?”
No - I sold my company. Later that year I went down to Barretts Car Auction as I had my eye on a couple of cars. I ended up buying 62. I keep thinking that I should start selling some off, but its really tough.”
Later conversations - it turns out the company he sold made latex hospital gloves! He started it just before AIDS became a thing. I forget how many plants he had scattered all over the world when he sold it.
