They keep accelerating the crazy in Portland. I predict that a future President (Trump?) will have to roll tanks against that city when it rebels.

Do they give Americans protection from discrimination?

The Portland city Civil Rights code already prohibits discrimination based on race, religion, age, and disability, but Kolbe said religion isn't clearly defined.

Commissioner Amanda Fritz, after being pressed by FFRF, proposed the change to "add non-religion such as atheism, agnosticism, and non-belief to the definition of religion," according to city council records.

Oh boy. This is going to get really interesting really fast. Of course atheism is operationally a religion. Christians have been trying to point that out for decades.

Oregon kills babies and the elderly but won’t execute the worst of the worst.

They want to take away honest citizens guns but give drivers licenses to illegal aliens.

They want to take away your automobile and force you into overpriced mass transit.

I forgot, what was your question?

Why don’t they just go ahead and say everyone is protected except straight white cisgender Christian men. We’re on our own. May as well act like it.

This is just a license to sue!
Every time some ne says “Merry Christmas” a lawsuit!
Anytime a religious organization looks to hire someone for something - a pontnteial lawsuit!

Well, then, you got your wish. Atheism is added to the list of religions, against which one may not discriminate. This could get interesting.

My point was that if atheism is recognized as a religion, atheist harassment of traditional religions can be considered an effort to favor one religion over another. The atheist demand to scrub Christian (and other religious) symbols and memorials from the public square will become a de facto attempt to institutionalize a new state religion. Modern atheism in the political and legal arena has gotten traction by attacking “religion” as a prohibited category. Atheists can’t do that if atheism itself is a religion.

"special protection"

Thank you for mentioning that.

Note that the Founding States made the Constitution’s Article I, Section 10, Clause 1 partly to prohibit the states from establishing protected / privileged classes which Portland’s ordinance effectively does imo.

"Article I, Section 10, Clause 1: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility [emphasis added]."

H O W E V E R …

Patriots need to elect a new patriot Congress in the 2020 elections that will not only promise to support PDJT’s vision for MAGA, but will also promise to do its constitutional duty to stop misguided activist states from establishing privileged / protected classes.

Also, citizens who value their 1st Amendment-protected freedoms of religious expression and speech need to get up to speed on their 14th Amendment protection from state overreach.

14th Amendment:

Patriots will likewise need to elect a new patriot Congress that will actually do its duty to exercise its 14th Amendment power to strengthen constitutionally enumerated rights.

Finally, patriots with religious convictions who value their constitutionally enumerated protections should consider that Acts 22:25-29 shows that Paul used his Roman citizenship to save himself from being flogged.

Yes. I am wondering, in Portland, who DOESN’T have “special protection”? Just white, Christian tax-payers?

It’s Christians who need protection from a Christian hating government.

So, you interview someone, check their social media, see they are outspoken atheists and you pass. Who needs the trouble?
