My daughter’s enjoyed my phonetic reading of the classic, Little Black Sambo. I’m not sure that each of them will encourage me to do the same with their children.
Little black sambo was an Indian
I have a very early edition
Little Black Sambo was the winner. He got the tigers turned into butter.
And another classic, the Tar Baby from “the Song of the South” - ostracized and condemned by racist liberals while they actually demonstrated solid principles to live by.
Not to hijack the thread but, there was a restaurant near me in the 70s called Sambos. It was in a black area and they had the characture Sambo on the menu. It was the only restaurant I have been to where you had to pay before they would give you any food.
Sorry to go off topic.
