In other words, did the Democrats successfully sabotage the talks?

Democrats are now saying that it’s Trump’s fault we don’t have a deal with NK, and if it was up to them, they would have taken Rocketman’s deal. Trump thwarted peace!

Certainly could have, they might have thought Trump was desperate for a deal. Also if the NKs are listening to our media thy could have thought he was vulnerable.

Some people this whole thing was planned on both sides to deliberately put pressure on Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China. Xi is not exactly well-loved by some circles in the Communist hierarchy in China.

Michael Savage, yesterday on his show said exactly that. He said that the Norks/Chinese believe that, because of the hearings and the efforts of the Dims to go after Trump and remove him from office, Trump is a weakend president and the Chinese (who control N. Korea) told Kim to squash the deal.

OTOH, Ben Shapiro stated, essentially, that the deal fell through because Trump is a “sucker” (my words) for flattery and thinks that if he, in turn, flatters and praises dictators like Kim, they will be more cooperative, and that Trump is naive in thinking this.

Shapiro noted that in Trump’s 2017 SOTU address, he lambasted the N. Koreans regarding their treatment of Otto Warmbler, which resulted in Wambler’s death. Subsequently, Trump did a flip-flop claiming that Kim stated he was unaware of this, and Trump said that he “takes his (Kim’s) word for it”. IOW, he believes that Kim had no knowledge of Warmbler’s situation as it was happening.

That’s exactly what Mrs. Montag PREDICTED during the first hour of the Cohen hearing. “This makes Trump look weak and besieged...Kim will try and taker advantage.” She was 100% right.

I think Kim came away with the wrong idea from the last meeting and thought he could handle Trump this time around. Turns out he war wrong. I doubt the Cohen hearings entered into it.

I think Kim had to try to get sanctions lifted in exchange for nothing and Trump had to say no. As usual, the Dems were irrelevant to matters serious adults have to deal with.

JUST what I was saying the other day. Kim is probably thinking Trump was about to be impeached. Reminds me of when talks were going on with Saddam Hussein to step down, they were even compiling countries that might take him...This was I believe in Feb. of 2003, and a week later Europe had that massive protest against the Iraq invasion and immediately after Saddam told Bush to go to hell.

In the eyes of a tyrant, allowing the press or the legislature to disrespect you without being executed is a sign of weakness. Undoubtedly Kim looked at these hearings as a sign of weakness on Trumps part. Kim would have lined everyone of those critics up against a wall and shot them himself.

The democrats would rather start a nuclear war than to allow Trump to finish his term.

Cohen didn't even have an affect on the entire populous. He just needed another chapter for his book.

If the president was negotiating, and Kim correctly realizes that 100% of democrats and half of the GOP hates him, it would definitely weaken his position.

How much value would we put in any agreement with Kim if we felt reasonably certain he would be overthrown within the year?

One thing for certain, it didn't help. And what a tragedy, if the eventual outcome is nuclear war.

Negotiations like this are sensitive matters and the stakes very high. If the Democrats cared one iota for the country, and not just interested in complete power for themselves, they'd be working toward the common goal of security for the entire world.

I expect this will go down in history as one of the most stupidest examples of government leadership, ever!

YES! The Democrats have convinced the little North Korean with the very bad haircut that in two years they will be in power again and they will offer him a deal more to his liking.

It might have reminded him how close the next election is.

That’s why Trump needs to tighten the sanction screws.

What else can be done?

No, but now we can definitively say in public that the Democrats and their Media want nuclear war.

It is conceivable that under more conventional circumstances Kim would have seen this as an opportunity to put the squeeze on Trump thinking that Trump would want some kind of foreign policy “victory” to counter the hearings. Kim is poorly informed both about the nothing burger the hearings were (old news, regurgitated) and Trumps resolve on the issue.
