TMZ ^ | February 28, 2019

Luke Perry suffered a massive stroke Wednesday, and is currently hospitalized ... TMZ has learned.

Paramedics responded to Luke's home in Sherman Oaks around 9:40 AM. We know the call came into the fire department for someone suffering a stroke, and Luke was transported to a nearby hospital. It's unclear what his condition is right now.

The 52-year-old who stars as Archie's dad, Fred Andrews, on "Riverdale" ... had been shooting episodes recently in L.A. on the Warner Bros. lot. Luke's medical crisis coincidentally struck on the very same day Fox announced it will reboot "Beverly Hills, 90210" -- the show on which he shot to fame, playing Dylan McKay in the 90s.

While his former costars -- Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestly, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Gabrielle Carteris -- will be on the revived series, Luke has not signed on to the project. Story developing ...

Hopefully got to an ER that is proficient in treating stroke. Early identification and intervention can in many cases help mitigate an otherwise likely poor prognosis.

I hope the best for him. Women used to ‘go crazy’ about him.
A stroke at that age could either be a result of long term substance use, or it may simply be a matter of heredity.
Some family lines are prone to certain ailments at particular times of their lives.

I recall a 13 year old neighbor, a star player on the Junior High Basketball team, who had a heart attack. Everyone except the family was shocked.
Heart conditions were common on his father’s side.
Luckily, he recovered, as far as I know.
For other families, it may be some form of cancer that is a common trait.

Frankie Muniz, who played Malcom in the Middle, had several strokes before he was 30. This one sounds quite serious though. Prayers up for Mr. Perry.

Randy Travis suffered a similar stroke in 2013, at the age of 53. He was hospitalized with a severe upper respiratory infection and went into a coma; doctors didn’t realize he had suffered a stroke until he regained consciousness. Randy has never fully recovered; hope Mr. Perry has better luck.

I’m not a fan per se and never watched 90210 but I have seen him in other things. He was in a western that I enjoyed. I thought he was good. Hope he recovers.

At age 38, my wonderful dil had a stroke. No drug use, very little alcohol use, if any. Was found to be missing a major artery near the base of her brain. Fully recovered, now, but just shows that it’s not always a lifestyle result.

Could have had undiagnosed AFib. I had it for six years before it was found. If you’re asymptomatic you’ll never know until something unrelated happens. A stroke would be the worst of those somethings. In my case it was a physical for health insurance. A better way to find out.

Could also be due to rupture of an intracranial aneurysm
