Yes. It was a California judge who died. The court went ahead and issued their verdict by counting his vote. Without his vote, it would have been a tie.

Since judges can change their mind up until the release/filing of the verdict, that was not appropriate to count his vote quite a few days after he died.

Bunch of cases maybe reassigned to other districts, IIRC.
