As it was he got paid more than the initially agreed upon price.

Sure he did, after his getting stiffed by Kuchar made the rounds in the PGA community........

As it stands now, by PGA pro caddy standards, he was still shorted over $75,000 based on the 10% winning standards that normally go to all the caddies.......

Now you can support Kuchar all you want by citing the flat fee he paid to the caddy but that's not going to erase the fact that he's a cheap son of a bitch by even considering NOT paying the guy the standard fee of the 10% bonus of the winnings that go to all the bag carriers.

I'm not defending Kuchar I'm defending deals. I think we have a basic disagreement about deals.

My take is that if you accept a deal going in that's the deal. After you know the outcome you are something of a welsher if you want to go back and renegotiate.

Even though that wasn't the deal had Kuchar not made the cut would Kuchar be within his rights to give him the "PGA standard" of ... nothing? How about the 5% if he finished 11th or lower?

Nope. Kuchar was obligated to pay him whatever the deal called for. If he had welshed I'd be the first to call him a SOB. He had a contractual obligation to pay him.

I might add that the golf press has changed. I saw it the day Mickelson got the full SJW treatment for saying he paid too much in tax. Poor guy was forced to apologize and yeah, were I him I would think that yeah, I pay too much in tax. He made the major sin of saying it.

Kuchar has to pay 35% tax in Mexico and then around the same in the US leaving quite a bit less than what the purse actually was. If caddies are paid on gross (I don't know the answer to that) then wow, players need to rethink how they do things.

You don't think much of the guy and I can understand that, that's fine. I don't know the guy but do know that what you see in public can be very different than the person so I am much more focused on abiding by your decisions and living up to your handshake. Maybe my time has passed but when you can't depend on a man's word we've lost the foundation of civilization.
