“Fox News will dine out on this,” Maher said during the panel discussion on tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher. Earlier in the show, during the opening monologue, Maher said, “Of course Fox News loves this story because it proves their stupid theory that racism is a hoax.”
Smollett, Maher said, “wanted to be a victim without going through all the steps…”
But Real Time guest Donna Brazile wasn’t having it. The former Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee and co-author of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Politics had a more straightforward theory about Smollett’s alleged false police report.
“He wanted a raise, he wanted a raise, he wanted a raise,” a furious Brazile said. “No one wants to be a victim of hate crimes, no one wants to be victim of being attacked and brutalized because you’re gay or black or Jewish. That’s bullsh*t. He wanted a pay raise and he wanted to bring attention to himself. I’m angry with him. I’m upset with him. He owes not only the city of Chicago an apology, but there are real, live victims out there today, and I refuse to shut up because he played a terrible game, and it’s painful.”
Not to be outdone, Maher got the final word on Smollett: “I saw Jussie’s interview with Robin Roberts,” the host said, “and he’s not a good actor.”

Maher says Fox News says “racism is a hoax.” How is that remotely true? Disagreeing with what is racism and what is not is not saying “it” does not exist.

Jussie’s real crime is that he had given Progs such high hopes that his story was true.
Maher, of all people, should be well aware of the consequences of false accusations (like rape). Of course Bill’s not upset that someone used race baiting to further their career or to attack a political party - but that it makes his political party look bad.

So, all of the dozens and dozens of high-profile "hate-crime" hoaxes perpetrated in the past few years were actually disguised salary disputes? None of the perpetrators had a political agenda?

There is always a political agenda. Financial greed may play a role in some hoaxes, but the cry for attention may be a bigger factor than money in many cases.
Why are all the libs adamant that the hoax was all about getting a raise, and NOT about smearing Trump and his supporters? Does the motivation for a raise lessen the charges from a Trump-deranged hate crime? I don’t get it, but it’s another lyin’ hoax.

It is abundantly clear to any fool that the Left must now do all it can to portray this hoax as a mere hoax (motivated by crass financial motives, narcissism, etc.) - anything but as a politically motivated hoax.
If the hoax is not political, then it (or rather: its failure) does not besmirch the Left.
The Left of course wishes to now distance itself from this hoax.
