Nike says its investigating why Duke freshman Zion Williamson split a shoe open during a game against rival North Carolina. But the sportswear giant says its an isolated occurrence.
The Beaverton, Oregon-based company says its concerned and says quality and performance of its products are of utmost importance.
The shoe malfunction, which forced Williamson to leave the game with a knee sprain, happened in front of a crowd of celebrities, including former President Barack Obama and Spike Lee.

If only he was wearing the Red Ball Jets, made in America!
"Hey, kids, get Red Ball Jets! Youll run like the wind! Youll jump in giant bounding leaps! "
Do the shoes worn by the top level sponsored athletes and college programs get manufactured in a special facility? Just curious.
It’s hard to imagine the 250 dollar competition model going down the same productin line as the dirtbag 40 dolla ones
He'll be back on the court in less than 3 weeks.........Sheesh!
Don’t know about college but the shoes worn by the NBA are all custom made from molds of the players feet.........Because of their enormous shoe sizes, that’s the only way they can be fitted properly and the players are provided with many pairs of those shoes..........
I’d assume the top college guys are similar...they’re just as big.
Or, if they can't find her, a QC memo will go out to the forepersons (sweatshop boss-men) to check that the machines are actually threaded.
ESPN was totally hyping the fact that Obama was at the game last night, and acting as if the entire country was excited about this. So happy the game was ruined within the first minute LOL.
The more time Obama spends watching basketball
The less time he has to create other forms of mischief.
I would not be surprised if that asshat Roy Williams had his people sabotage Zion’s shoe somehow.
Me too. Happy that the libtards at Duke and the Coach K crazies got Jinxed by the presence of Obummer.
Here is another story about the game. Didn’t think it warranted its own thread: basically saying that those who say UNC should have an asterisk in the record books about this win (since it couldn’t have happened unless Williamson had been injured)....are wrong.

Nike lowered its performance stands because they cant support overly masculine athletes. Toxic masculinity you know.
What’s wrong with Zips?
The fact both teams are a lock to make the NCAA tournament greatly reduces the meaning of this game.
You want to make college basketball more interesting in the regular season, make it so each conference only sends one team to the tournament, then these games would matter.
“make it so each conference only sends one team to the tournament,”
Thats how it was in my youth. But still this game would have meant nothing as the ACC sends the winner of the post-season tournament as its champion.
This began the expansion of brackets in the 70’s when one year you had 2 top 5 teams sitting home uninvited to the NCAA’s.
“I can see how they could tear or blow out if put under the stress of a professional athlete.”
They obviously aren’t made for that kind of use. They’re intended for drug dealers on NYC street corners.
In the 45 years I have either run or walked I am not sure I have ever bought a pair of Nike shoes, don’t think so. Most of the time I bought and have worn New Balance, at times I haven even had Brooks shoes.
Pretty much have been a loyal New Balance customer, they are made in the USA by the way. The last two pairs of New Balance shoes I have had I walked approximately 800 and 600 miles in them and definitely got my money’s worth out of them.
If I were Zion I would switch shoes and get some real quality ones.
Didn’t know PF Flyers were made by BF Goodrich
