One lucky lottery winner in New Orleans is just hours away from losing their chance to live The Big Easy life.
A winning $1 million Powerball ticket sold by the Louisiana Lottery in August at a convenience store in New Orleans is set to expire at 5 p.m. Thursday, nearly six months after its fortunate owner matched all five numbers 02-25-54-57-63 and the Powerball of 8, lottery officials told The Post.
Dustin Annison, a Louisiana Lottery spokesman, confirmed that the prize remained unclaimed as of Tuesday afternoon.
If the winner never comes forward, the $1 million purse would be the largest unclaimed prize in Louisiana since a $3 million ticket went unidentified in 2012, Annison said.
If the ticket is never claimed I hope the person who bought it never finds out or even suspects.
They’d probably be put on “suicide watch”.
I like to have a million, but really, a successful PowerBall run should pay out a lot more than that.
I bet the person lost the damn thing! In that case, he/she may eventually find it, then jump off the nearest roof.
what do i have to do to claim my prize?
I bought a ticket to the world
But now I’ve come back again
Why do I find it hard to write the next line?
Oh, I want the truth to be said
Just mail me the ticket. I’ll take care of everything.
Chump change. There’s a $1,500,000,000 MegaMillions ticket that has not been turned in.
Good Lordie! When’s the expiration on that?
I’m glad you posted that. I wondered if I had missed seeing the lucky winner.
Must be a mistake. If someone matched all five numbers and the powerball number, then they won the multi-million jackpot. Matching all five numbers without the powerball wins a million.
You mean that $1.5 billion MegaMillions number sold in SC a few weeks back has never been turned in? Unreal.
“There are literally billions of dollars in unclaimed lottery prizes each year, according to research from lottery expert Brett Jacobson. He collects data from every state lottery commission for a lottery app he runs, and his data shows there were $2.89 billion in unclaimed lottery prizes in the 12 months ending June 2017.”
According to CNN sooo

Yes, South Caroline. Winner has until April 19 to turn in the ticket.
It isn't for the jackpot: This is a second prize for missing only 1 number.
Thanks. The article said they matched all numbers.
The IdealMart is a Hispanic grocery so the odds are its someone Hispanic, maybe illegal. Quite a few killed locally lately, maybe they can’t claim it. If the winner isn’t a legal citizen I don’t think they should be ALLOWED to claim it.
my thought exactly. Imagine being the buyer finding THAT ticket misplaced at you home months from now.
