i read contrary views on this- some articles snow and cold kills ticks, some say lack of snow and cold helps ticks- they claim ticks burrow into leaf litter to survive the winters- hopefully the cold is killing them off because they are creeping far more north than before

Snow does have an insulation value, but in our case, we have had lots of snow, but the snow hasn’t lingered. Lots of very cold days with plenty of wind and no blanket of snow.
