Chicago’s High Unsolved Murder Rate Worsened By Uncooperative Communities
CBS Chicago ^ | 08/08/2018 | Derrick Blakley

Chicago’s crime problem is made worse when murders like the wave that gripped Chicago last weekend go unsolved.

CBS 2’s Derrick Blakley reports that while other big U.S. cities have shown improvement in arrests, Chicago lags behind.

Two years ago, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson announced plans to hire 200 new detectives to help solve the city’s soaring number of murders. ---SNIP---

Back in 2000, the city solved 40 percent of murders that occurred that year. In 2009, 30 percent of murders were solved.

Last year, 17 percent were solved, Blakley reports.

JS should be fined for double the cost of the investigation of his hoax.

If the sea is rising or if Florida is sinking, humans will do what humans do best, adapt.

Most homicide victims in Chicago (or anywhere in the U.S. for that matter) are themselves criminals. They run with the wrong crowd, engage in the wrong pastimes, and piss off the wrong people.

“Critics say the main problem that exists in Chicago is a lack of cooperation from the communities affected by the shootings.”

Typical of most minority neighborhoods. They tend to hide criminals from the police.

And hoaxster Smollet wastes police time and resources, keeping them from investigating these murders.

While it’s not obvious to me whether it would be better to have zero police presence or a corrupt police presence, it’s tempting to wonder about running a survey, “Do you want to help the police and they help you - or not?”, identify the zone where the answer is overwhelmingly the latter, help those who answer the former to relocate out of the zone, and after the last one is gone, then never have police step into the zone again until such time as the then residents demand it.

Chiraq will be bringing the entire state of Illinois down soon - real soon.

If anyone’s interested who will pay the bill when that happens, look no further than in the mirror.

Beat me to it.

That, and the cops don’t investigate.

At some level, it becomes reasonable for families and neighborhoods to seek their own retribution rather than rely on the rule of law.

We are far past that point, but any effort at neighborhood self-protection would be ferociously investigated and prosecuted by the authorities.

I live in a now0gentrified neighborhood, but 20 and 30 years ago it was a little sportier. My tongue in cheek suggestion then was that if we wanted a real crackdown on crime, we should lynch a local drug dealer. That would have drawn saturation police coverage, a stakeout in every alley, security cameras everywhere, and roving SWAT teams to protect journalists reporting on the alarming outbreak of vigilante justice. All it would have taken is one hanging of a thug. The resulting police presence would have saved many lives over time.

The authorities in Democrat controlled cities are far more hostile to armed citizens than to criminals.

Schiff and the other Democrats should investigate these unsolved murders instead of President Trump.
