Empire star Jussie Smollett has furiously denied paying two Nigerian brothers $3,500 to attack him and says he is 'angered and devastated' after investigators in Chicago claimed he orchestrated his own assault.
Smollett’s attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, told Entertainment Weekly: 'As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with.
'He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.'
THE FULL STATEMENT FROM JUSSIE SMOLLETT’S ATTORNEYS Lawyers Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson issued the following statement on Jussie's behalf on Saturday night: 'As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with. He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.
'One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video. It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity.
'Jussie and his attorneys anticipate being further updated by the Chicago Police Department on the status of the investigation and will continue to cooperate. At the present time, Jussie and his attorneys have no inclination to respond to “unnamed” sources inside of the investigation, but will continue discussions through official channels

I think if this had been just a friend helping him, with no cash involved....cops and prosecutor would have let it go eventually. Once the two Nigerians admitted cash profit...he was screwed. He could have offered me $300, and I would have roughed up enough.
Smollett's case took a dark turn Saturday night, when Chicago police told Fox that they now believe Smollett paid two pals to fake the crime. “When Kim Kardashian was the victim of that horrific burglary in Paris, she closed down, she gave no interviews for months."
“But Jussie was adamant; he wanted TV right away. He simply could not wait to villify Pres Trump. He raised his voice, saying, ‘I need to do this right now. I’m a black gay man and people need to know what happened to me. I want to tell my story.’ He wanted media right away.”
During his Feb. 14 appearance, Smollett tearfully told GMA's Robin Roberts about being beaten about the head
and berated with racist and homophobic insults. Threatened by the two strangers he said were white,shouting
"This is MAGA country n-----er."

Did Smollet's publicist believe his whacked-out story, or was he in on the scheme to vilify Trump?
They’re going to need a bigger bus if those two Nigerians are expected to fit under it.
So Smollett’s attorneys proclaim that they aren’t inclined to respond to “unnamed sources” while obviously … responding to “unnamed sources”. Suggest they read “Credibility for Dummies”.
He did it to promote the TV show
The “actor” obviously is a mentally unbalanced nitwit who can’t face the reality of his own loser status. What a dishonest, integrity-free loser.
Is it not possible that the brothers did this on their own for some reason? Perhaps they have some axe to grind.
I hope so. That would mean they are likely moving to file charges against him. That is the only other thing I want to hear about Jussie Smollet...that he will be perp walked into a Chicago PD precinct house. I'm not holding my breath.
