Chicago (CNN)Two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation told CNN that Chicago Police believe Jussie Smollett paid two men to orchestrate the assault.
The brothers, who were arrested Wednesday, were released without charges Friday after Chicago police cited the discovery of "new evidence." The sources told CNN that the two men are now cooperating fully with law enforcement.
Smollett told authorities he was attacked early January 29 by two men who were "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs." He said one attacker put a rope around his neck and poured an unknown chemical substance on him.

"It feels like if I had said it was a Muslim or a Mexican or someone black I feel like the doubters would have supported me a lot much more," Smollett said. "And that says a lot about the place where we are as a country right now."

I predict the story will disappear from the news as soon as Mr. Smollett is charged. The politicians and actors will never mention it again, and the legislative proposal will vanish into the bowels of some committee, never to re-emerge.
No other Democrat candidates will be allowed to bring it up. If a Republican does, that’s raycisss.

Morton Downey Jr says he was attacked at an airport and someone drew a swastika on his face. He most likely did it himself, in the mirror.
One year he sold out the 1,000 seat Club Casino in Hampton Beach NH. The next, his show there was cancelled. The hoax had been exposed and only 16 advanced tickets got sold.

I’m expecting the media spin to be some version of “fake, but true,” as in: “Even though this specific assault was fabricated, there is no question that millions of people of color, LGBT’s, Muslims, and other marginalized groups feel increasingly under attack in Trump’s America.” Count on it.
That lying, drama QUEEN b@stard, Smollett, had better get prosecuted to the absolute fullest extent of the law on every possible charge that can be thrown at him!
We should all give our thanks to Jim Robinson for allowing posts to lib. sources like CNN, much as we may dislike those entities because they show where lib. thought is going. Now, for example, we know even the libs. are beginning to spot this hoax.

For Sure. "Hate crime" is nonsense, as the crime itself speaks for itself. But if the lefties want some thing to bear an extraordinary burden in the new age of enlightenment, then fake crimes for a political cause are a pure example.
Figuring this one out was hardly a boast-worthy feat. As soon as he said “Trump supporters in Chicago” anyone who didn’t drink the TDS Kool-Aid knew he was lying.
