Anyone else subjected to CBS news on the breaks? Do they go out of their way to find gay sounding guys? I don't care if someone is gay, but come on! The local affiliate is even worse. The news director can't read and the weather guy sounds like what I would imagine, would be the voice a gay porn actor. OK!!! It's 6 degrees here. Good thing I am going to work. I might lose it. I hope by the time I return, that Charlie Brown at least gets a squib kick on that football!
def, the phenomena you've described I've railed about (mostly to myself in my car) for a long time now. There are fewer and few MAN voices out there. To me it's scary.
There's a couple in our church who have middle school age kids...a girl and a boy each. The father is a big dude and has a throw-back man voice. I mentioned to him one day that he should consider being a lector because A) he'd be good at it and B) the young ones would get to hear an actual MAN voice. And I emphasized that it's real important for the young girls to hear that.
Maybe I put too much cred on this, but it sure does bother me.
