I guess I’ll get slammed for saying this. But this whole plan will be funded by borrowed money. And there will most probably be no return on that money. it’s not like the moon is filled with oil.
And if you want to develop new technology, do it right here on earth. No need to test it on the moon.
So yeah, this might be a good place to trim the federal budget.

Boy is that narrow minded. The value we got for the original moon landings is far more than the cost of them.
We can’t ‘just invent things here’ because you never know what you are going to need to invent until you try to do something new and difficult.

One thing the moon as a lot of is H3. This could easily be mined and transported back to the earth or refined into fuel that is cheap and burned cleanly. It makes good rocket propellent or it could be used in reactors here on earth.
It is literally in the dust.
