If they donated the leftovers to a charity would be okay, I guess..............
I can see a pizza place combining pans during a buffet but that’s just gross claiming it was from a table order.
Laws prevent donating food to charities now days. They can’t even give it to pig farmers.
Austin, TX is trying to get restaurants to cut down on their garbage by 70%. Don’t know how they’re supposed to do that when they aren’t allowed to donate the food.
Many years ago, our grocery store would set out old produce, bread and past “best use by” dated packaged items on tables outside for anyone to take home for free. Now days, it all goes into the dumpster with signs threatening arrest if you dumpster dive.
Also, many years ago, at closing time at the drive-thru, they’d load you up with all the already cooked food for almost no cost. And again, these days it goes in the garbage.
