Oh, I understand that both Sabbath's I saw was not THE Sabbath from the early 1970s. The footage from early 1970s shows that I've seen reveal a great blues-based hard rock act and yes, I'd stack Sabbath v1.0 up against the few times I've seen Priest (who I also caught at Live Aid...and for what it's worth it doesn't matter who is on guitar or drums for Priest, Halford truly is the Metal God as he carries the whole show).

If put the 1970 Royal Albert Hall version against the early 1970s Sabbath and the 1972 Made in Japan version of Deep Purple, THAT would be a great debate (I'd pick DP...Ian Paice, baby).

The point is Zeppelin loses in all scenarios.

The most over-rated band of the 70s, though they had two really good records, they couldn’t replicate any of it on stage.

Great bands are ALWAYS great live bands.
