Problem is all morality is ultimately based on religious moral precepts.
I used to run the Moral Absolutes ping list.
Boy oh boy did some people hate that.

...but can we at least have a "moral test"...? That's tough, who's "morals"? But, yeah, we should be able to agree that traditional values are not extremist positions. Of course, the extreme democRats will never agree.
