“High Five!”
Smack’em Down!
I got a Google “Breaking News”
Alert when this story broke.
And no apology using “if I’ve offended anybody” is allowed.
Yes, apology statements must be pre-approved by the plaintiff’s legal team.
What do they mean Covington high school lawyers? Whose lawyers???
Wheres dumbass Milano on this list?
About time. It needs to be explained to the MSM that freedom of the press does not include liable.
The problem with settlements is that the abusers wont have to grovel, and WILL issue the standard leftist non-apology apology.
Exactly, but Big Media will fight very hard to prevent that. Watch the usual suspects fund the bullies defense.
See my post #5. Those are Nick Sandmann’s lawyers. Some of the other kids appear to be working with a different lawyer.
Big Media propagandists deliberately left studentsout of that headline.
Need to add Corbin Smith to that list.

Marty Singer Breaks Down the Art of the Cease-and-Desist Letter The super-lawyer threatened New York Magazine over a 2011 article about Brett Ratner. When New York magazine went after client Brett Ratner, Marty Singer returned fire. He breaks down the letter he sent to editor Adam Moss for THR.
Identify the issue-—In November, New York magazine published on its Vulture blog a story claiming that Tower Heist director Brett Ratner worked for a corrupt New York stock brokerage while a student at NYU. Singer sprang into action, firing off a letter disputing the allegations. Facts facts facts, he says of his strategy in crafting letters.
Cite the law——Singers letters often contain detailed legal precedent, including examples of similar cases. You need to point out the law and get some good cases in there to try to establish whatever your legal theory is, he says. Make them recognize their exposure.
Expect the letter will leak——Because many media outlets now publish lawyer letters, Singer crafts his correspondence with the non-legally trained reader in mind. Hence the claim that the story makes my client look like a crook, he writes. When youre sending something to the media, youve got to be concerned that whatever you say will be coming out, he says.
Use the correct language——To survive a First Amendment challenge, Hollywood defamation cases require the aggrieved to show actual malice by the media outlet or a reckless disregard for the truth. So Singer is careful to use that exact language in his letters. Defamation is the toughest part of the law to prevail on in America, especially for a celebrity, he says. Its important to demonstrate malice or recklessness.
Explain the problem-—Singers reference to an unidentified source hiding behind a cloak of anonymity lets the publication know that he intends to challenge the origin of the story. You cant just say something is false. Youve got to tell them why they should have known it was false, he says.
Brevity counts——Singers two-page letter is about the right length to get his point across. I try not to make the letters too long, he says. Bert Fields never writes one more than a paragraph long.

The legal beagles should try to engage Mark Steyn to write the approved apology statements.
Steyn won some suit in Canada, and as part of the settlement, he drafted the public apology release.
The losing side took one look, and said "We can't release this. It would make us look like a bunch of idiots."
Nonetheless, they ended up releasing the Steyn-penned apology.
A HUGH settlement would be gravy. The first goal is to force the rats to expend HUGH amounts in attorney fees! Seriesly!
That’s a real nice list.
“This is the only thing thats going to end the war on Deplorables.”
I agree!! It’s about time someone pushed back — HARD!!
And what happens if they all simply ignore the letter?
