I think that if both played out right now, there would be some time lapse for things to come to a head. One must always look to the next election cycle.
Expected timeline (unless things change):
-Northam resigns (effective Feb 15?)
-LTGov becomes Gov. Schedules a special election (quickly...like 30 days notice if Constitution allows-need to read it, yet)
-Ethics/assault story builds to crescendo and he resigns, likely around 30-60 days ^after^ the special election.
-This should lead us up to the regular legislative election in the fall.
-New Gov. is hamstrung and will need to schedule a special election sometime after the regular (notification requirements, etc.) Dhimmicrats would count on voter fatigue to hold the special election.
So, we could be looking at a string of elections over the next 10 months that will wear down the VA voter. The big question mark is how much will the “dueling scandals” impact the regular fall election?
I think we could see a party swing in VA. Manchin might change parties as a result.
Remember VA is a “collar state”; it borders The Swamp.
I forgot to add at the end. VA was also a SLAVE State.
Found it:
“The Governor shall have power to fill vacancies in all offices of the Commonwealth for the filling of which the Constitution and laws make no other provision. If such office be one filled by the election of the people, the appointee shall hold office until the next general election”
Gov. appoints LTGov. for the remainder of the term. Fairfax can choose his own successor.

I think Machin is from West Virginia...???
