NEW ORLEANS (AP) A quest by two New Orleans Saints ticketholders to force a full or partial do-over of this year's NFC championship game because of a blown "no-call" by game officials was rejected Thursday by a federal judge.
Officials failed to call interference or roughness penalties when a Rams player leveled a Saints receiver with a helmet-to-helmet hit at a crucial point in the final minutes of regulation time. The Rams won the Jan. 20 game in overtime and are set to play the New England Patriots in Sunday's Super Bowl in Atlanta.
Fan reaction in New Orleans has included disbelief, anger and resignation, expressed in newspaper headlines, billboards ("They reffed up" said one), promises by some restaurants and bars that they won't show the Super Bowl broadcast on Sunday, and posters of blind referees.

I’ve not heard any mention of refs being fired from NFL. If that doesn’t happen, the officiating has lost all credibility. The defensive player involved was fined for one of his fouls, but nothing so far for the refs for the no-calls
“I am not a Saints fan, just tired of being emotionally invested for four hours only to be robbed by blatant ineptness by the Goodell NFL.”
That wasn’t ineptness. It was intentional. I’m not for overturning the results of the game or replaying the last minute and a half. I do believe a criminal investigation is in order. Who did the refs bet on that day?
>> I do believe a criminal investigation is in order.
LOL... your first demand for an investigation?
It sure is! Vikings fan here. See 2009 NFC championship game.
The game is filled with bad calls, no calls, cheating and bounty-gates.
Sure, theres that.
Yes, let’s litigate questionable calls. Shouldn’t be a problem. We could be wrapping up the 1924 season any time now.
I not so sure, the NFL seems worthy of at least a spot on one of those Spanish language legal shows.
Wassup saints fan...long suffering falcons fan here.
Cannot dispute the fact that despite several refs having perfect position and lines of sight to what was clearly textbook pass interference, none was called.
Thats one play.
How many times have us falcon fans watched yall tackle Julio before the ball gets within 5 yards of his hands?
How many blatant dirty ass late hits have i seen ryan take from yall go uncalled? How many times has Ryan been snatched down by the face mask with no call while Brees suckles hungrily deep in the refs bosom under a canopy of yellow?
How many times did yall get away with dirty blatant hits.on Favre in the vikings house the last time yall played for the nfc title? Against one of the all time greats?
On top of the fact NO ONE league wide is trying to listen you saints fans cry about one bad call..
1. That one bad call did not:
Blow a big ass lead.
Blow Brees up right when he was letting go of the ball...causing an int.
Force yall to punt after getting the ball first in ot.
So...enjoy your offseason....while you contemplate yalls future with an aging Brees...no 1st round pic this draft...and not much cap room to sign free agents..enjoy the offseason because the rest of us are.
I have to admit. As much as it was a bad call, that is part of the game. If anything the Saints O sucked in the second half to let the Rams get close and when it counted the D let them down. I think the Saints have no one to blame but themselves.
Yes,I do get it.If this was an issue of vital national policy I'd be demonstrating, with many others,on the steps of the Capitol Building right now.
But it's not...it's not nearly that important. As a result I am,rather than chanting on the Capitol steps, just ranting on a keyboard here in the comfort of my living room.
That comment stands. When you had your chances you didnt put them away. You let them off the hook on a trick play (fake punt) and there were other blown calls that would have helped the Rams. Coaches always tell players that if you allow the outcome of one play and a ref to decide the game, you didnt do your job. Saints should have put them away. DB should have milked the clock. They could have given the Rams the ball back with 40 seconds. DB shouldnt have thrown a pick in OT. Coulda shoulda woulda. You dont let them pick up fourth and a mile in a fake punt inside their 30 the games over. Let that sink in.
Way to much energy spent on a game
It would have been amusing to see him rule the other way 48 hours before Super Bowl kickoff.
Why the heck didn’t the judge throw this out and fine the shysters that brought the suit?
I don’t need a lecture. In spite of all of those things you enumerated, they had a chance to still win the game. If this wasn’t a blatant non call on the part of a referee who happened to be a former player for the Rams.
I’m only ranting about it because it got brought up again in court. My slant was that the time to do something about a bad call is at that moment. Not weeks later in court. Especially if it’s a game changing call. I totally understand everyone that’s been robbed not giving a damn, but we Saints fans did. But yeah, just a game.
I understand the Saint’s fans being very upset.I’m a Pats fan and *I’m* upset because, win or lose, the question will be “but could the Patriot’s have beaten the Saints?”
