Since you are “there”, how about researching this for us:

“Snow days” per decade at a good size public school district near you, starting in, oh, say, 1920, if possible. Since we are roughly half way through meteorological winter of 2019, apply a 10/9.5 factor to 2010-2019.

If you wish, throw in the number of sub-zero daytime highs for each of those same decades.

But, you know the answer “in general” / “seat of the pants”, anyway. And so do the rest of us.

A number of factors should actually decrease the number of snow days presently needed. OTOH, widespread busing for integration might have been a “+” factor for some years.

Bevin would be concerned with closings in KY - I believe his point was that current (this event) school closings HE was concerned with are an EXAMPLE of America going soft. And he is right. Likely he could have worded it a little better.

Louisville schools are STILL CLOSED...today.

There was no snow last night. Roads are clear. It’s 15 Degrees. I don’t see any reason kids can’t be in school.

Waiting for a bus? Puh-lease. Sit in one of the many cars idling at the bus stop. Or, God forbid, maybe the parents could actually TAKE them to school.

Or maybe, the handful of kids who’s parents lack the resources to find ANY solution, just don’t go to school today?

I see no reason the vast majority of kids can’t be learning today.

If it ever got that cold when I was in school, all the kids sat in a car until the bus came. Yeah, that’s real tough.

A student died here in Iowa.

Classes were cancelled; he should have been inside in the -50 weather. No alcohol was involved. I hope they continue to investigate, because not only is this sad, but it is so curious - why would he be outside for so long? I imagine, with classes cancelled due to the temps, few people were walking around, so no one saw him.

Other people have died in this cold as well. The Gov should be ashamed of himself.

Mark Levin has been a great supporter of Bevin, because he is a man of great character, and the type of man we need more of in office.

He also has a great personal story.

Don’t he and his wife have a large family with lots of adopted interracial kids, who have been living what Christians talk about?

Maybe most of the people who are being hostile aren’t aware of his love for family and kids, and his pointing out that the difference in actual conditions is a reasonable thing to do...
