I don’t think Cuomo alienates too many Catholics. I hope I am wrong.
States with the strongest pro-life political influence are those with the SMALLEST Catholic populations.
Here's the evidence, based on a Pew Research study from a few years ago. Catholics as a percentage of the overall population:
1. Rhode Island -- 42%
2. Massachusetts -- 34%
3. New Jersey -- 34%
4. New Mexico -- 34%
5. Connecticut -- 33%
6. New York -- 31%
7. California -- 28%
8. Illinois -- 28%
39. Kentucky -- 10%
40. South Carolina -- 10%
41. Georgia -- 9%
42. North Carolina -- 9%
43. Arkansas -- 8%
44. Oklahoma -- 8%
45. Alabama -- 7%
46. Tennessee -- 6%
47. West Virginia -- 6%
48. Utah -- 5%
49. Mississippi -- 4%
Notice a trend here, Mr. Dolan? I do.
The good news is that history will remember you very well. Andrew Cuomo will be remembered as a radical pro-abortion governor, and you will be remembered as the pro-abortion bishop who enabled him through his entire career.
If you want to outlaw abortion in this country, the first step is to outlaw Catholicism.
The Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) was truly the self-immolation of Catholicism. Consequently Archdioceses, Dioceses, Parishes, and all other entities that are recognized as Catholic today are no longer Catholic. Nor are those who self-identify as Catholics actually Catholics with the exception of a small and diminishing remnant of the faithful who have refused to participate in the unholy charade we see today all around the world.
