National Security Adviser John Bolton may have inadvertently revealed a potential next move by the Trump administration in the Venezuela crisis Monday when photographers captured a note on a legal pad that read: "5,000 troops to Colombia."
Sources tell Fox News that the White House is considering pre-positioning U.S. forces in Venezuela's western neighbor in case they are needed. However, the sources said that no such move is imminent.
"As the president has said, all options are on the table," a White House spokesperson told Fox News. The National Security Council declined to comment on the note, while the Pentagon referred questions to Bolton.

It might have been an “intentional accident”...?
I would rather his have done a little memo like, “5,000 or 10,000 additional to the Southern Border because of V.”
Bolton is a lot of things. But stupid is not one of them.
The military has plans for every scenario. Remember the plans to invade Canada.
As a Canadian, Im not the least bit offended.
OopSec.
“It might have been an intentional accident...?”
Obviously.
Some months ago I posted “if military intervention happens it will come from Columbia.” Western Venezuela where the oil wealth is hates Chavez and his illegal succesor Maduro.
Columbia has endured much economic distress due to millions of Venezuelan refugees fleeing to Columbia. Columbia could have stopped this at their border easily. They did not as they had a historical debt to Venezuela. When Columbia was in chaos due to the Marxist Farc, Venezuela accepted many refugees from Columbia.
It is not out of the realm of possibility for Western Venezuela to become part of Eastern Columbia. The people of Western Venezuela would welcome this in today’s state of chaos and hunger.
The people of Western Venezuela would much rather be part of Venezuela but if given the choice of being Colombian verses tyranny of Maduro, they would choose Columbia.
Columbia has a small but first rate Army. They are very professional and well trained. We trained them! When and if they decided to go into Venezuela it would be no contest. The local populace would be their support. Today the Venzuelan army is only useful to suppress an unarmed civilian population. In a true war footing they would crumble. Many would take their arms and go over to the other side.
ps
I lived there in the good times before Chavez. Many good people there, it is most sad.
Colombia.
I feel like the Trump admin trolls countries as well as anyone ever has. Probably better. I have often mused this is a Bannon inspired trick.
Nonsense. Colombia has had troops at their border for months, but they simply don't have the resources to defend a 1,300 mile border unless they topple Venz or had US backing.
Ecuador, Argentina, Chile and Brazil have all suffered do to Venz as well. They all have their own problems.
It’s Colombia.
5,000 troops.
Trump promised on January 20, 2017 that we would not engage in regime change. We are.
Yea, great imagery. US troops defending a Colombian border while illegals come across and butcher and rape Americans.
Exactly.
The refugees traveling through Colombia will precipitate a national security emergency. Which — after a year in the courts — will get a wall built.
You're thinking of the Dominican Republic.
