Probably raise them dramatically. The hypothetical new drug would be under patent for a number of years and they could charge almost anything they wanted. And it might encourage people who don’t smoke to start, w/o realizing that there are a lot of other non-cancer health risks to smoking.
Hell, now we can’t even depend on cancer to get rid of career politicians and corrupt judges.
