I believe you. They make you feel like a criminal when leaving the place. Why don’t they just do a pat down to make sure you haven’t stolen anything?
Not the same. Sams’s Club and Costco are membership stores. You agree to have your already paid for merchandise inspected at exit in exchange for the privilege of shopping there.
Other stores attempt to detain you and inspect your rightful property under intimidation. The merchandise became your personal property the moment the cashier accepted payment for it. I will however give a pass to stores that post this conspicuously as policy at the entrance.
