Springsteen proves he still hasn’t learned the lesson of Vietnam
The Star Ledger of Newark ^ | 01.01.19 | Paul Mulshine

Posted on 01/27/2019 6:21:49 PM PST by Coleus

The last two times I saw Bruce Springsteen, I paid $15 and $40 for scalped tickets. So I certainly wasn’t going to shell out $600 to a scalper just to see him on Broadway.

It wasn’t until Springsteen’s Broadway show finally appeared on Netflix that I got to see it.

The beginning is very funny, especially when Springsteen jokes about the fact that at the time he was singing about factories, he had never set foot in one – and that he didn’t even know how to drive a stick shift at the time he was about to write “Racing in the Streets.”

“I made it all up,” he jokes.

True enough, but that joke carries over to his positions on politics.

That becomes apparent when he brings up the Vietnam-era draft and the sad story of Walter Cichon.

Cichon was the lead singer of a Freehold-based band called The Motifs who “showed us by the way that he lived that you could live your life the way you chose,” Springsteen says.

Except that Cichon couldn’t – at least not with a big-government Democrat running the country. Lyndon Johnson got elected in 1964 by defeating Barry Goldwater, who said, “I want to end the draft altogether and as soon as possible.”

Lyndon Johnson wanted to keep the draft, but he declared “"We are not about to send American boys 9 or 10 thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves."

“We are not about to send American boys 9 or 10 thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves.”

And with that statement the seeds of Republicanism was born in my brain 17 year old brain as I knew the democratic POS was lying in his teeth.

My folks all supported the Democrats even though they never registered to vote as they did not want to be called for jury duty.

Isn’t he that worthless piece of $hit that hid in Canada while so many the rest of the young men in America enlisted or got drafted? And isn’t he the piece of garbage that got a free gift from Carter of amnesty?

He’s still a piece of garbage. His music is garbage and he’s garbage.

Never understood the Springsteen cult. Not a good singer. Band is ordinary at best. He wrote a few good songs, but so have a lot of other people. If we did a poll of the most overrated rockers, he would be at the top of my list.

Springsteen is renowned for his concern for the average man shown particularly when he needed a large space to rehearse for one of his ridiculously over priced performances. Being NJ some politico provided him a drill hall used jointly by the USAR and the NJANG. Reserve and Guard cadre were told in no uncertain terms to get out and stay out any day while the a-hole who calls himself the boss was rehearsing. Springsteen himself had passed that word down. I hate that bast*rd.

That had to be the lamest tailgate party I have ever seen. Way to half-a$$ it springsteen fans. Sharpie writing on a gal’s belly, dude hanging his laundry from 20 years ago, and guy sitting in a lawn chair.

He was also a long time tax evader.

No surprise here. I’ve seen plenty of liberals do whatever they can to run away from whatever claim their government has on them.

Oh, he most certainly learned the lessons of the Vietnam War:

Cowards have no problem lying to everyone, just to make sure that someone else risks their life for their country in their place. Then they’ll tell everyone how smart they were by being a coward.

The Left will use every possible opportunity to support the enemy during a war.

The American people don’t like to bother themselves with other people’s suffering, so they’ll give in if they’re inconvenienced enough - and go watch a football game.

Luckily for us who did risk our lives over there, we didn’t have a meatball like Springsteen on outpost or on a critical flank or playing “minefinder” with his feet,

You think this is lame? My brother lives in Manhattan 2 blocks from Broadway, knows people involved in that scene and he heard they are working on a Hillary Broadway show. Well actually “fantasy” because you damn well know nothing in it will be factual. They are also working on a Bee Gees one, that one I heard about, but figures they’d make one celebrating Her Royal Hellness being that New York city now is pretty much run 100% by commies.

Don’t try to figure it out. The Left worships an asshole with a snot rag in his pocket. Just like Pete Seeger, the Leninist musicologist who made his name mocking the veterans who beat the crap out of the greatest threat to humanity the world has ever known.

No, he did not hide in Canada.

In an early 80s Rolling Stone interview that has long since disappeared from the earth, he admitted to going to the draft office when his number came up and telling them he was a faggot.

And that is why he was not drafted.

When VietNam comes up time to remember this

Not dare refer to the most costly and disgraceful results from a “shutdown” that happened during Nixon’s presidency. Caused by the democrats refusal to stand by the Vietnamese effort to remain independent by refusing them air support and supplemental funding of arm supplies which would have prevented that loss and that humiliating disgraceful evacuation of our Saigon embassy.

Which quickly then resulted in a multitude of Vietnamese being slaughtered and the sacrifices of thousands of our armed forces paying with their 58,000 lives assisting them in their fight for freedom dishonored..

Peter Fonda was puzzled why his draft board turned him down.
Until someone told him about the military custom of first name last, last name first.

For an in depth account of how the Democrats sold out the Vietnamese people and dishonored the sacrifice of so many American lives, take a look at An American Amnesia: How the US Congress Forced the Surrenders of South Vietnam and Cambodia by Bruce Herschensohn...
