The pregnancy thing was a bit weird but in the context of a true alien species biology and NOT hinting at the humans involvement in any way it was believable as true sci-fi.It was sad in a way. Acted with nuance ;Lou Gossett(one of my favorites) was brilliant as the Drac. He inhabited the role and the makeup was incredible.
I'd like to find it on DVD. Still think its well done and a true sci-fi gem!

Agree on The Last Starfighter. It wasn’t cerebral but tying a videogame in as connected to a REAL space war was imaginative. And, it had HEART. There were goofy moments, sure, the bad guys for instance and some good guys. The traitor was overacted but the young lead was likeable. The moment he was leaving for good and his girlfriend decided,at the last moment, the music swells-it got me. Heart.

I never heard of any of these movies. Maybe lack of promotion is why they are underrated.

It was during the first time I stopped watching modern films.
Then I just never got around to seeing it.
Have only see the original Star Wars..none of the sequels.

[Loved the weirdness of the cinema and storyline! Have been looking for it ever since, to show-up on TV. Fascinating!]

Yeah, its the first time I ever heard of “Steampunk”. LOL

It kind of reminds me of “Quatermass II” in a way which was a terrific serial in Britain back in the mid 50’s.

Thanks for the link but that doesn’t appear to be it.

The book I remember didn’t go into radio or TV shows.

It would almost be like one of those Star Wars technical manuals mixed with histories of the various planets at different points in time.

Maybe it will come to me at 3 AM someday in another decade.

Plenty of books here, most unread.

I got pulled to a RCPL preview book sale of old inventory. No plans to buy anything but I wound up buying a copies of Ice Station Zebra and one of the Monk mysteries in hardback for $3.00.

They will probably sit with all the other books that never get touched.

Dark City was a classic. Not sure if it was underrated, though. Similar to The Matrix. The Thirteenth Floor was another in the same vein.

Underrated?

A Boy and His Dog

Very non-politically correct.

That’s one I never saw. It appears to be a US-Brit inexpensively mad film.
