As stated, I am seeking a simple white, flavorless pill that I can occasionally take instead of consuming more actual pain reliever medication. Why? So that I don't become too reliant on pills to get through the day. So that I don't continue building new thresholds of tolerance, requiring even more of that same med.
Such pain relievers can be rough on the organs of the body. Other reasons: So that I remain more clear headed during the days, during the times I need to drive, during the times when I'm expected to engage in conversation with people.
Causes of pain: Ever since my foot surgeries (Sub Talar Fusions in both feet) I have experience occasional pain in the toes and soles of feet. The doctor calls this peripheral neuropathy, something that happens to a percentage of patients after these procedures. Sometimes it's just a twinge of pain around the toe nailbed, other times, I am awakened at 3.AM feeling as though someone poured kerosene on the soles of my feet, then lit a match. When that happens, I have learned to just stand up for a while, maybe walk around a bit. Thankfully, it's not all the time. Perhaps a few nights out of the month.
I have been prescribed Gabapentin for it. At first, after researching Gabapentin online, I refused to take it at all. I read that one side effect was Weight Gain. I'm thinking; that's the last thing I need assistance with, gaining more weight. Then I read further, and to many patients who have used it, the gain happens only by giving in to an increased appetite. Feeding one's face, as it were. It's not as with certain other drugs, (Prednisone!) where the body begins to store fat in different ways than before after long term use. So I'm willing to try it for a while, in small doses. Gaba is helpful, but leaves me sort of woozy in the morning. It might be about Noon before that soft cloudy sensation is finally gone.
I'm willing to have a small container of placebo pills as a 'Go To First' measure. To keep from ingesting so much that will depress the system, and make breathing somewhat more labored. Yes. I know it's only mind games and a form of Self Hypnosis.
I have searched online, and was surprised at how difficult it is to find what I want. I don't want empty capsules that I have to work at filling with something. I don't want sugar pills, that will remind me of Tic Tacs. I seek a plain, white, boring pill that is as close to flavorless as is possible. Any suggestions?
Seems to me any vitamin pill would work. Or a mineral: Small-dose calcium, say.
You might want to find one which is the same size/shape as your regular pain pills.
I have found this works with my anti-inflammatories, in a pinch.
Not a placebo - it can have a real effect on pain - Curcumin (tumeric). Check with your doctor, however, as it may interact and boost the effects of certain prescription medications (some blood pressure compounds, among others, as I recall). Some folks also recommend combining it with ginger - I don’t know if there is any medical literature on that.
Good luck.
No, what you read was one POSSIBLE side effect......
Another possible side effect is an erection lasting more than four hours. If that should happen then call your girlfriends immediately, not your doctor.......
I was surprised to see there are actually placebo pills on Amazon.
Google “Zeebo placebo pills” and see if you are interested.
I also have neuropathy - it sucks. B Vit complex seems to help mine.
I had to get off Tums awhile back. It was destroying my stomach. I moved over to fiber tablets. Same chalky, fruity crap. Part of quitting cigarettes was mints. I still down mints when I’m driving.
I broke my knee last year and the pain sounds familiar.. i also took years of pain management when i was a kid.
Be careful. My friend OD’d on placebos.
Good ideas.
Those Zeebos are blue & white capules, not pill tablets.
I found that out last night. But thank you for the suggestion. Maybe they have other products.
Has your blood sugar been checked lately? Diabetics and those whose levels tend to run higher can have similar symptoms.
I have been on “painkillers” for nearly 30 years now (compliments of the drunk driver that nearly killed me back then-plus the two failed spinal surgeries he caused)-none of which now do me any good at all. Am now looking into CBD oil. Hearing a lot of claims about it-some are too good to believe. If I decide to try it and it happens to work I’ll let you know.
Good luck with your search and I hope you find relief.
Dont placebo it. Fix it.

There are more, but get started with these potentially curative options.
Since you didnt have the pain and now you do and dont know why, it would seem a nutritional issue.
just to expand on mag, it is our major relaxing mineral. Calcium is your major constricting mineral. In general, you should not supplement with calcium as we get alot in our diets and you often don’t know what form you’re taking and it can really wreak havoc.
My husband had debilitating fibromyalgia and none of the md’s knew what to do (besides pain killers and steriods). I did a huge amount of research and discovered that mag deficiency is the cause of FM. Started him on it and all his body pain was gone within 3 weeks. That was 10 years ago. We still take alot every day.
Thanks. Good luck with your own continued recovery.
that’s because there is absolutely no instance of high stomach acid, only low stomach acid that manifests as high.do not take antacids ever. 90% of the population has low stomach acid.
I’ll be glad to explain why people feel the acid when it’s low if interested.
Was his name Steven Wright? :D
Have you tried birth control pills?
from (from healthline) “There’s three weeks worth of active pills that contain the hormone or hormones necessary to prevent pregnancy. The last week’s set of pills typically consists of placebos. Placebo pills are placeholders meant to help you stay on track by taking one pill every day until the next month starts.” Just eat the last ones....

Heres what I do and it works...4-6 cups of green tea daily. Turmeric Curcumin. 2 @ 1500 mg a day.
I’ve got some reading to do.
Amino Acids; it’s not just for the Science Class anymore.
