North Carolina 3-year-old Casey Hathaway says he hung out with a bear after he vanished

The North Carolina 3-year-old who vanished from his grandmother’s backyard earlier this week said he spent his two days in the woods with a friendly bear.

Casey Lynn Hathaway was found alive just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday, bringing an emergency two-day search for the missing toddler to a close. Rescue workers were following up on a tip about a crying child when they discovered Casey about 40 or 50 yards into a wooded area, tangled up in some brush and calling out for his mother.

The boy had been missing since Tuesday, when he didn’t come inside with the other children he’d been playing with at his grandmothers house in Enrul, located about 100 miles southeast of Raleigh.

Casey’s aunt, Breanna Hathaway in a Facebook post said her nephew was “healthy, smiling and talking” following his return late Thursday.

“He said he hung out with a bear for two days,” she wrote. “God sent him a friend to keep him safe. God is a good God. Miracles do happen.”

Thank you Mrs. Dono. So discouraging and completely unnecessary, not to mention seriously hurtful

Me dog too.

Joking about truth instrumentation, although, progress will likely be made in that area in the future, including the ability to distinguish trust from fantasy, as well as from falsehood.

Obviously, 5he most important thing here is the boy’s safe return.

“It wasn’t a bear it was a Squatch. Missing 411.”

Concur, at least as far as it squares with many other Missing 411 cases.

While Bizarre. there have been numerous events involving various mammals looking out for lost humans. Feral children (not “Youts”) have been found for centuries!

I'm voting large dog too, maybe like this?. I can see a kid thinking it's a bear.

Yes sir. That’s the one. If one reads into that they will see they are not truly hibernating. That’s why it pays to maintain situational awareness when working alone out here. Well, that and the cougars and wolves too.

I can see how the child could have been missed. I doubt if the 600 people all converged on the square mile where he was found.

That area is heavily wooded. A well organized search would have been done in grid fashion with experienced woodsman searching just far enough apart so they could see one another. This way they will have eyes on every square yard.

If inexperienced searchers bunched up and stayed mainly on trails or purposely avoided thick brush, steep inclines or marshes then the kid could have been within a hundred feet of the closest searcher and never detected.

I was on such a search once which was the unorganized type. What a joke.

Another balloon boy? I’d go for aliens over a cute cuddly bear. I’ve only read it was 1/4 mile. Either way, granny could practically have stood on her back porch and hollered for him. Hard to believe the searchers couldn’t find him or the bear within an hour.

Yeah. Makes you wonder if the “bear” was a friendly fellow who took him into his house to take funny pictures of him or something.

You fit to a tee the old saw that ‘there are none so blind as those who will not see/refuse to see.’

Oddly, no, that’s not what Im referring to. There are numerous stories from children of friendly bears, bigfoots, and “werewolves” returning or letting loose children that have disappeared. For example, here is one story about a kid who went missing in a national park. Hundreds of people looked for him and couldn’t find him. He was later found. The distance he was found from the original point was far too far for even an experienced adult to travel through mountainous terrain. He said a “friendly bear” had taken him.

Brush the kid off real good and see if they can detect bear skin particles.

The bear population along the North Carolina coast is greater than the bear population in the NC and Tennessee mountains...

1. "The Vatican" does not equal "the Catholic Church."

2. When leaders in "The Vatican" violate Catholic faith and morals, they are not exemplifying what the Catholic Church teaches, but rather negating it.

3. What you said, verbatim, was "For sure. The true God is not the same god of the catholic church." This is a falsehood, since the True God is honored and worshiped by the faithful --- and dishonored by the unfaithful.

Lumping the faithful and the unfaithful together in one description, is unjust.

On the other hand, taking note of these distinctions may go a long way to clearing up your false witness problem.
