Check out their nuts?
Look under the eaves of your roof to find the hole where whatever-it-is is getting in.
Poop
Are they acting squirrely?
First guess is squirrel. There’s a difference between the thump of an 8 ounce squirrel and a 20 pound raccoon. Also, quick scratching, running sounds are rodent like. Mice are a possibility, too—you’ll notice them more when the house is quiet.
Move out to the country where you can shoot them with a silenced, subsonic .22LR.....
You are describing coons.
Could be an Opossum, I suppose.
how can you tell if squirrels or raccoons are invading your attic?
//////////////////////////////
Ask Nancy Pelosi to speak for a few minutes. Listen to her rambling. Her “attic” has been invaded long ago. You can see it in her eyes.
As to your house, I’m sorry but I don’t know. I would call a professional Critter Control or other place.
If you live in NYC Ein it might be a Democrat.
Shoot the insulation thats moving, take a picture of the critter and google raccoon. If the critter doesn’t look like the raccoon picture I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess “squirrel” ...... always here ta help !
Raccoons have bigger bladders.
When they pee, it will be a big mess in your house.
Trap them. Use glue traps baited with peanut butter. The animal might get away, but there will be enough fur left for you to identify it.
If there’s a hand washing station than it’s Raccoons
I have no idea how a squirrel managed to get into my room one night, but it did. About 3 am I heard some rustling in a corner. I flipped on a light, then all hell broke loose as my 2 labs spotted the squirrel. He was climbing curtains and running every which way. And you can imagine the noise the dogs were making.
Luckily, I was able to get the dogs out of the room, and opened a door for him to escape. Talk about disruption!
Roof rats? A friend says her neighborhood has so many and they find at least four each week in traps they set in their backyard.
Peanut butter has always worked for me.
