Hey Jude was the first release of newly-created Apple record company in 1968
It featured as its logo an image of an apple, inspired by a René Magritte painting
Hit single featured a whole apple and a sliced apple on either side of the vinyl
Some thought the sliced apple looked too much like a vagina for distribution

The Beatles' smash-hit single 'Hey Jude' was almost never a hit - because the vinyl's apple label was dubbed pornographic, a newly-discovered letter has revealed.
The iconic song by the Fab Four was their first release of their newly-created Apple record company in 1968.
But it was nearly scuppered because distributors feared the picture of an apple cut in half on one side looked like a vagina.

As an aside, René Magritte married Georgette Berger and Paul Simon wrote the song “Rene and Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After the War” for his “Hearts & Bones” album.

Absolutely. The worst song ever written..a close second is “Proud Mary”...
But if you'd played 'If I Had A Hammer' they'd all join in singing..........Ironic..............[ 'The Hammer' in the song is the 'Hammer of Communism' being forced upon the entire world.............]............
