True, but I was making the point that William is generalizing about a whole generation of Britons, when it is HIS family that is so problematic. He needs to look up the word “solipsism.”
I suggest you read Antonia Fraser’s Cromwell biography (I just finished another good one but written in the Victorian era! I would have to find the book to tell you the author.). Much of what you think you know about him is due to pro-royalist historians. I once thought as you until I did some independent reading.
Consider the Commonwealth Constitution

Surprisingly “liberal” for its time.
I've also read several different books, whose titles I'll gladly give you, which deal with the Brit CIVIL WAR.
I still stand by what I posted originally; especially re how Cromwell destroyed Christmas celebrations, which were not "fixed" until 1843, when Dickens published his A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
I'll grant you that pre-Cromwell, some of the celebrations were over the top, pagan, and overboard; however, Cromwell's edicts re how to celebrate it, went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far the other way!
I had to look that up myself-—thanks.:-)
.
Alas there will not always be an England.
I disagree!
so whatever to each his own!
But yes, each to his own opinion.
well., there is that!
but then, almost everyone in UK descended from foreign invaders of one sort or another...

What a weenie.
Wrong Billy Boy. Wise up, dude. I don’t know what it is caused by, but “talk therapy” does more harm than good. Most of psychology is a steaming load.
No wonder the Queen is hanging on and not handing the throne over to the next generation. Shes got more sense in her little finger than the whole lot.
