The North made laws that said if a slave was in a free state for a period of time, he was free. Scott went to court after he was denied his freedom and the SCOTUS decided against him. If people can be treated like a horse, then the slavery issue would never be solved peacefully.

I watched, even here on FR, that people decided for Terri that she should die without a jury of her peers finding her guilty of a capital crime. They put her in the category of property so a probate judge could decide her fate along with the silverware and a house. This is the same thinking that goes on every day in Communist dictatorships. You belong to the state and they give and take your rights. If the state gives you rights, they can take them away.

If babies can be classified as a woman's property until they leave the hospital, then everything, including murder can be decided by the mother and government. If you come into a hospital unconscious, wearing a red MAGA cap, the people on scene could decide what treatment you get if they take away your civil rights.
