“I think the thing off the top of my head might be, ‘It’s about f***ing time,'” says Sam Elliott, in the wake of his first ever Oscar nomination. “Beyond that, it’s really about the work; it’s just about the creative process. It’s great to be recognized for that, that’s really all it’s about.”

Road House was a gawd awful movie but somehow I’m draw to the clips of it on youtube like a moth to flame.

The absolute worst cinematic close-up zoom ever at the end of the clip.

not that pale water they call Coors Light

Ugh. I drank one many many years ago. Never again. I hate to sound sexist but (...well...no I don't...) I can't imagine any man with a taste bud in his head drinking that swill. A total chick beer.

Watched the movie last night.

Mel Gibson movies are, of course, very realistic to the point at making you cringe, but it’s the real thing, right?

That movie gives you everything you need to know about Viet Nam. It was a war, brought on by old men in their easy chairs, that was not thought out in any way.

The army was not at all prepared, certainly not at the top. By chance, the first real battle is fought by leaders who understood.

The lesson too, was that the North was beaten the first time. And they knew it would be tough to defeat the Americans.

Which brings us to the present.

Everyone is talking about us fighting the Chinese, and Iranians and Nato... with the Russians etc.

We finally have someone in the WH, who sees the bigger picture here. For the first time, someone who might look at things differently and see that war if futile.

Take Taiwan. Are we really going to risk our air craft carriers in a war with China over Taiwan? Although, we could probably beat them now, in ten maybe five years, they might beat us.

Instead, it might take someone like Trump to ask China? Why should we fight over this island? What is it that you want. The Taiwanese have had a taste of freedom, I don’t think those people will go quietly into the night, but they’ll fight back.

So, maybe there’s a solution without war.

OTOH, China is doomed. It’s only a matter of time, before they will succumb to the failure of the socialist system they embrace.

Great movie.... but intense...very intense...

There is a Beer that tastes even worse than Coors Light, Micelob Ultra.

I couldn’t get thought half a Can yet I know People who love it. Even worse than Olympia or Schlitz Beer, which I’m not sure they even make anymore.

I think they do still make Schlitz. Immaterial because I’ll never drink it. A nice Long Trail Double Bag for me. Or a nice Weihenstephaner Korbinian when I can find it.
