The Marine Rangers were disbanded shortly after the end of WWII. MARSOC was created sometime around 2006 and the Ranger name came back a couple of years ago. There were no Marine Rangers in Vietnam as they were decommissioned at that time.

There were no Recon Rangers at any time in the Corps. They were Marine Raiders and my father was one.

Thank you! A Ranger is a US Army designation. Per Wikipedia: “U.S. Marines presented with the Ranger Tab are not authorized to wear it on their uniforms.”

The guy is a LIAR, but Wikipedia included 5 presstitute sources for that tidbit about Phillips being a Recon Ranger. No one who has been in the military would describe themselves that way. A Marine might say of himself “Lance Corporal” or “Gunnery Sergeant” or some other widely understood rank and job. “Recon Ranger” sounds elite and dangerous, and like something a Liberal would just make up, as they do.

Let’s see the DD214.
